Jayne's Journey
Cloudy, Misty of Chincoteague grandson
In January 2017, Jayne moved from the Carolina Foothills area known as Tryon Horse Country back to her heart home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is returning with new knowledge, teaching and training skills to share from all her equestrian experiences that included attending many clinics and workshops as well as competing at horse shows on the East Coast. Journey Horse now has an actual home at a unique equestrian compound in Albuquerque’s North Valley. The farm adds a new dimension enabling Jayne to take in horses for training and have students haul in for lessons. In addition Jayne will be able to host events at the farm. As always she will continue to travel to clients as part of the services she offers. Jayne has an extensive background that includes working with many different breeds in a variety of divisions. This wide experience gives her a unique perspective when teaching or problem solving riding and training issues. As a teacher, Jayne works to help her students acquire knowledge in essential equestrian skills that apply to all disciplines.
“I have always loved horses, all horses and all that you can do with them – English, Western, Jumping, and Driving.” Growing up all she can remember is wanting to be with horses. Combined Training and Hunters were predominant in the area she grew up so her initial experiences lead her in that direction. “My father surprised me with my first horse when I was 13.” Joining Pony Club and 4-H she competed successfully at the local, regional and national levels. While still in High School, the success of her own horses lead to the arrival of outside horses to train. The first two horses (3 yr olds) were sent to her by her veterinarian to train for his children.

Jayne has also worked with Arabian horses as trainer and farm manager for several small farms. Taking her solid foundation in riding and classical training and successfully applying it to the western and saddle seat divisions and always holding close the tenets of dressage. Jayne has a unique perspective which comes from not only working with different breeds but also different styles of riding and working with foals on up through finished show horses. Jayne’s goal is to give young horses a solid foundation and to help all horses and their owners develop confidence and enhance their performance in a way that is not threatening to either horse or rider. She became a certified practitioner of Linda Tellington-Jones’ TTEAM/TTouch Method in 1997. Jayne continues to seek information in particular on Equine Biomechanics and has attended workshops on Straightening The Crooked Horse, taught by Klaus Schoneich and the late Kerry Ridgeway DVM. Jayne's interest in Rider Biomechanics as taught by author and clinician Mary Wanless has resulted in her attending clinics taught by Mary and her long time student Stephanie Mosely McDougald, bringing a new perspective and teaching style that is enhancing her ability to facilitate real changes for her two and four legged students.

Jayne is thankful for all the teachers both Horse and Human who have helped her in her journey. In particular Arianne (1984-1996) and Juan (1993-present). “Both brought the work of Linda Tellington-Jones to my attention and helped me incorporate this most important work into my life.”
